Q: Why is my pool green?

A: The most common cause of a green pool is Algae growth. Algae typically forms in a pool where the chlorine levels drop below recommended values (1-3 PPM). Algae can also grow in a pool where the water is not being filtered properly. It is important to ensure your pool is both in the recommended chemical ranges and getting enough filtration. Q: How do I add chlorine tabs?

A: It is common to see chlorine tabs added into the skimmer directly, or in a floating device, however both of these options come with significant risk of damage. It is also important to never add tabs directly to the pool, as they will settle and cause staining, bleaching, and damage to the liner. The best method of adding chlorine tabs to the pool is in either an in-line or off-line chlorinator. These systems are very easy to operate, easy to maintain, and can be installed for around $200.

Q: How should I add chemicals to my pool?

A: With almost all pool chemicals, adding them directly to the water poses a risk to the liner. Adding chemicals without diluting can cause chemical staining on even new liners. All chemicals should be added following the manufacturers recommendation. For more information, please click here.

Q: How often should I shock my pool?

A: Generally, you want to shock your pool once weekly. There are other factors that weigh into this. Some examples would be pool usage, weather, chlorine levels, stabilizer levels, and pool run time. We recommend shocking the pool once weekly, typically on a weekend night after the heaviest usage. For more information please click here.

Q: How often should I clean my filter?

A: This is going to depend on your filter type. Generally speaking, whenever the PSI on your pressure gauge gets to a level 8-10 PSI higher than normal, it may be time to clean your filter. Q: How do I Backwash my filter?

A: Backwashing is a method of cleaning a filter. There are some very important steps to avoid damage. For more information please click here.

Q: What do I do if I think my pool is leaking?

A: It is very common for a pool to appear to have a leak when there are usually other variables at play. Days with high temperatures or extended periods without rain can increase evaporation and make it seem like a pool has a leak. In general, we consider up to 1/4” a day within the normal range of evaporation. For more information please click here.
